To the Parents and Guardians of The Hamptons School,
Thank you for continuing to teach your children their purpose:
I come to The Hamptons School to Learn.
Truth and Reconciliation Week
The CBE acknowledges Truth and Reconciliation Week each year in alignment with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.
Truth and Reconciliation Week invites all CBE staff, students, and families to engage in meaningful learning, reflection, and action. To advance the CBE Education Plan Goal: Truth & Reconciliation, schools and teams are invited to create opportunities that deepen understanding of the histories, experiences, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples.
This week is an important time in Canada to honour Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on our shared civic responsibility in the ongoing journey of ReconciliACTION.

Orange Shirt Day
Wearing orange on Orange Shirt Day honours Survivors of residential schools, remembers the children who never returned home, and acknowledges the lasting impacts of residential schools on families and communities.
The orange shirt is a symbol of the culture, language, identity, and freedom that were taken from Indigenous children, and a reminder that Every Child Matters.

Assembly – Ms. Stetz’s Class
On Tuesday, September 30, Ms. Stetz’s class created an opportunity for reflection and learning as they taught us about Orange Shirt Day, Reconciliation, and the Acknowledgement of the Land.
They spoke from their hearts.
The students created, planned, and wrote the script for the assembly, including the following messages:
Every child deserves to feel safe.
Every child deserves to feel loved.
Every child deserves to learn.
Every child deserves to belong.
Every child matters.
What Can We Do?
- We can listen.
- We can learn.
- We can show respect.
- We can include others.
- We can speak up when something is not fair.
- We can take care of our school community.
- And we can remember that reconciliation isn’t just about one day.
It is something we work on together, all year long.
Ms. Stetz’s students reminded us to take time to connect with nature, and they also taught us to Let in the Light, as they shared a video with the whole school.
The morning was a valuable time for reflection and learning.
Thank you, Ms. Stetz’s class.
